ROCKWOOD CABINETS

How to read a cabinet code

Every cabinet is named by a code that tells you three things: the finish, the cabinet, and the size.

SWR - W 36 42 GD
SWRWhite Shaker finish
WWall cabinet
3636 inches wide
4242 inches high
GDGlass door

Straight through, that reads White Shaker wall cabinet, 36 inches wide by 42 high, glass door.

01

Start with the finish

The first three letters are the colour. SWR is White Shaker, and every finish we carry has its own code, shown on the product page.

Pick your colour once, then use that prefix for everything in the room. If one code in your order starts differently from the rest, that cabinet is coming in the wrong finish.

02

Then the cabinet

The letters after the dash say what the cabinet is. There are a lot of them, but most kitchens use eight or ten.

Ready to assemble

Your cabinets ship flat in cartons. That keeps the price down and makes them far easier to carry through doorways and up stairs.

  • Parts, hardware and instructions are in the box
  • A cordless impact driver and 15 to 30 minutes per cabinet
  • Soft-close hinges and drawer glides included

Before you order

Measure twiceWall by wall in inches. Include window and door openings and where the plumbing and appliances sit.
Plan for fillersWalls are never square. A filler between the last cabinet and the wall takes up the gap. Most kitchens need two or three.
Check the door swingStand facing the cabinet. DL opens from the left, DR from the right.
Check exposed sidesSome styles come with finished sides, others do not. Where an unfinished side will face into the room, add a decorative panel or a skin veneer. Ask us which applies to your finish.
Decide corners earlyBlind corners lose some access. Easy reach and diagonal cost more but stay usable, and the choice changes the cabinets on either side.
Order a little spareAn extra filler and a spare length of moulding cost far less than a second delivery.
Inspect on deliveryOpen the cartons and check before you sign. Damage must be reported within 48 hours.

Send us your room measurements and we will build the cabinet list for you.
